Description:

Localization engineers will be working with various file types for the localization process, from analysis of source files, preparing localization tools and providing support to project managers and the sales department. Each day engineers will face new and different technical problems to solve in the fast-growing localization industry.

Requirements:

  • Two to three years of work experience in the localization industry.
  • Indian national working in Mumbai.
  • Computer Science degree or relevant degree in a technical field.
  • Knowledge of XML/HTML technology.
  • Knowledge of macro, scripting, programming languages such as VBA, JavaScript, regular expressions, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of CAT and localization tools.
  • Good level of written and spoken communication in English.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Define project requirements and prepare localization tools and processes.
  • Communicate and cooperate with team members regarding engineering issues.
  • Create scripts/programs to automate processes.
  • Mentor junior localization engineers.
  • Provide support to project managers and the sales department.

Junior Localization Engineer (Kolkata, India)

Andovar is a leading localization and multimedia company based in Singapore, India, Thailand, Hungary and Colombia. Due to rapid expansion, we are now hiring Indian nationals for the position of Junior Localization Engineer.

Description:

Localization engineers prepare files for translation or work on them after translation. Engineers will be working with all major file formats, including MS Office, XML, InDesign and proprietary formats, and may be working with large text data sets. Each day engineers will face new and different technical problems to solve in the fast-growing localization industry.

Who Should Apply?

Although this is a junior position, you’re expected to be technically adept at manipulating and transforming data between structured formats.  That means you should be comfortable in HTML and XML as well as leading formats used in business, such as MS Office.  You will receive training in localization engineering principles, processes and software.

This position would suit a new computer science graduate or junior web developer looking for new and interesting challenges.  If you are the type of person who likes to solve technical puzzles, this is the position for you.

Requirements:

  • Computer Science degree or relevant degree in a technical field.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, desktop publishing software, website development or multimedia.
  • Broad experience working with different software packages.
  • Working knowledge of XML/HTML technology.
  • Good level of spoken and written English.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Readiness to learn new skills.
  • Be available for after-hours shift work.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Basic JavaScript programming.
  • Knowledge of scripting – PowerShell, Windows Scripting Host (js, vbs), Perl, etc.
  • Knowledge of Regular Expressions.
  • Knowledge of query languages: SQL or XSL
  • Previous experience with localization industry.
